The Norwegian Vikings were essentially Seafaring Farmers—rugged people who had large imaginations! In this presentation you will learn about Vikings: family structure, dwellings, dress, food/feasts, economic activity, ships/travel, raiding and related weapons, and what they did for fun (besides raiding).
As a bonus, bring your camera and get a picture with a ferocious Viking warrior!
Reg Shoesmith is a retired teacher and school administrator who has had an interest in Vikings since an early elementary project where he constructed a pretty crude Viking ship with buttons for shields on the side. Since that time he has studied the Vikings and, as a member of the Sons of Norway, has presented several programs on the Vikings. Reg has traveled to Norway 3 times and visited Viking museums and historical sites. Just recently he returned from Ireland where in Dublin (a Viking settlement) he visited the Dublenia Viking museum and other related sites. Besides enjoying history, Reg belongs to the Q-C Ukulele Club, plays in his church’s praise team, teaches an adult Sunday learning class, dabbles in wood carving and makes noise target shooting.
